Cookery : Snack Does anything smell as good as 'banana bread' in the morning? Well, we put that to the test, by making banana bread loaves from scratch - mashing the bananas, measuring the flour, whisking the batter and then off to the oven. Doing so, had us enjoying this delicious and healthy food, at snack time.
Gymnastics:
Science:Coach Annie continued with developing the necessary skills to perform the forward roll and also worked on the jump and landing in a routine. We are definitely getting very close to 'nailing' the routine and Coach Annie was proud of everyone who participated in her session. Do you know that flowers can drink up water and change their natural colours to the colour of the water they drink? We are going to find out if this is true? Will keep you posted! Entertainment: ...blue..blue suede shoes... I'm all shook up! You guessed it - this week it is the indisputable King of Rock 'n Roll - Elvis Presley! Firstly it was the extent of his vocal range (particularly the bass) that impressed the children and then, of course, it was the dance moves. So vibrant and catchy! Trivia: at a young age, people noticed that Elvis had an exceptional singing voice. At the age of ten, he gave his first public singing performance. He also got his first guitar that year. Elvis loved playing the guitar. He carried it with him wherever he went, even to school. He never received formal singing or guitar lessons and did not read music. He just watched other people play and learnt songs by ear (listening to them). We can't wait to learn more about him and hear his music.
Lunch:
As always, laying the table, after going through the 'hygiene procedure', preparing, saying thanks for the food and to those who made it, the social aspects of the meal and the chats and, of course, story time thereafter with Aunty Anne (a.k.a.'Dora - the Explorer'. We will be making our lunch on Thursday. so you need not send in lunch on this day. Please look for further information within our daily updates about SS'19!
Art and Craft:
Our craft, made from paper plates depict animal faces. Children had fun putting this craft together. It turned it out great! The picture says it all. In our art and craft projects, children are invited to express themselves in colours, shape and sizes.
Sports: Basketball
Aha! It's Uncle Dennis (fresh from a hoarse voice after cheering for his fellow countryman - Manny Pacquiao) and his territory. Having played varsity basketball, he has placed high expectations on himself and his assistant coach (Uncle Sathish - more a cricketer as you are aware) to prepare two crack teams for Fridays final! More as we go along. We need a volunteer to do the commentary and if you have what it takes, please contact us for an audition 😆
As with every 'game of the week', we began with an introduction to the sport; history, rules, etc. Tomorrow we shall begin with skill-building and by Friday, the 'all-star' game will be on!
Geography: ‘My place in the world’
This week, we are on about, “who we are’ and ‘where we are” - in relation to one's birthplace, country, province/state, continent and location on planet earth! We will use Google Earth as far as possible to pinpoint these places so we may look at the surrounding areas, find the nearest attractions and city centres and so on. Please let us know, the requested, by messaging the office on WhatsApp (+65 96 444 501).
E.g. birthplace of a member of our staff is; https://earth.app.goo.gl/V8sbhd |
